So you’ve got curly hair. You probably spend countless hours a week flat ironing your hair and blow-drying it until it falls stick straight. You live in fear of being caught in humidity or rain, which could undo the hours of painstaking work you’ve put into your hair. You work hard to make sure that people have no idea that your hair isn’t naturally straight.

But it doesn’t have to be that way. If you’re ready to say goodbye to the fear of rain, then you should read on. Having curly hair can be difficult. When you’ve got straight hair, a bad hair day is no different than a good hair day. When you’ve got curly hair, a good hair day is an amazing hair day. When you’ve got curly hair and you’ve got a bad hair day, you may be akin to a Medusa. When curly hair looks good; it looks amazing, it looks perfect. There’s a reason all the beauty queens in pageants make their hair big and curly. There’s something about curly hair that is sexy and beautiful. Curly hair is wild and uncontrollable.

Curbing your heat addiction can be difficult. You may want to reach for your flat iron to fix every little problem quickly and easily. But it won’t make your problems go away. In fact, it may just make your hair worse later.

Imagine your favorite pair of shoes. Imagine that you wear these shoes every single day, all day. You eat, sleep, breathe and shower in these shoes. You put harsh chemicals and heat on them constantly. The shoes survive harsh, dry winters, and humid, wet summers, and windy weather. Those shoes start to get worn out. They stop looking as fantastic as they did when you first bought them. They aren’t shiny and new anymore. These favorite pair of shoes are your hair. Some hairs on your head could have been on your head for years. How many accessories do you know that you can wear every day for years? None but your hair.

Using heat on your hair is like tanning your skin. It makes it brittle, and eventually you lost your natural curl and your hair stops being healthy. Treat your hair kindly, and it will look beautiful.

If you’re ready to embrace your curls, put down the flat iron and get ready for a wild ride.
