1. Vests
As the winter season is drawing in and the winds start to fall, choosing an outfit can be quite difficult. You don’t know if it’s going to be too hot or too cold, and your overflowing closet appears to be more bare than ever. Opt for a vest—they are great layering pieces, and there is such a wide range of colors and designs to choose from.
My favorite vest has to be the Patagonia “Synchilla Vest.” I own both the white and black, and I wear them constantly to the library and even to class!
My second favorite is the J.Crew “Excursion Quilted Vest.” I own it in a dark olive color from last season; however, this seasons colors are fantastic! This vest is perfect to wear to class—it’s comfortable and classy.
2. Bean Boots
Having gone to prep school in New England for four years, I do not know how I survived without a pair of L.L. Bean “Bean Boots.” I wore my pair for the first time post-hurricane, and they were BEYOND comfortable! Wear them with a cute pair of socks that stretch above the top and you’re all set. They’re good to wear in the rain or even on a sunny fall day.
3. Monogram Gold Necklace
I am proud to say, that I was the first of my friend group to sport one of these gold babies around. My Monogram Gold Necklace is my statement piece and I am in love with it. There are so many websites that you can order them from, which is really helpful! There is a wide range of expensive to non-expensive brands and now there are companies that do acrylic necklaces. My favorite website to ooze over when I’m debating buying a new monogram piece is Moon and Lola. I discovered this website last year while flipping through a Life & Style article and it hasn’t disappointed since! My favorite item that I am dying for at the moment is the tortoise shell acrylic necklace.
4. Long Sleeve Monogram T-Shirt
I have an obsession with monograms—I can’t break it! Last week, I officially went overboard and bought a long sleeve monogram t-shirt. This Etsy vendor, Cuties for Cuties, has great colors and styles, and my shirt came out great! They run true to size and are extremely comfortable.
5. Monogram Clutch
Yes, you have definitely gotten the point that I have a weird obsession with monograms. That’s okay, I own it! One of my fairly recent purchases that I adore is my monogram clutch from Marley Lilly. Marley Lilly may have the best selection of monogrammed items. Everything ranging from hair ties to running shorts (and even license plates) pervades the preppy pink pages! The clutch comes with a strap that is useful for nights out, but it works well on its own if you’re just going out to dinner.
6. Lilly Pulitzer Agenda
This is the first year that I have not had a school sponsored agenda, and let me just say, I am not disappointed! This Lilly Pulitzer agenda is perfect for me. Inside, there is
the cutest sheet of stickers with stickers for special holidays or things to put on any day to make it extra special. Further in, there is a two-page spread of each month and after each individual month page, there is a weekly schedule. This is my favorite place because I pretty much write everything here!
7. Lilly Pulitzer Wristlet
Although it is already a little bit dirty, I use this Lilly Pulitzer wristlet daily. It is so convenient with its inside pockets for credit cards and change, but there are two on the outside as well! I put my school ID inside the clear slot along with my metro card. It is possibly one of the best investments I’ve ever made, and I can’t wait to get another one for the next school year.
8. Statement Watch
Everyone needs to own at least one statement piece or prized jewelry piece that they are in love with. For me, that is my gold Michael Kors watch. My simple gold watch is something that I wear every day, and I absolutely love it. My new obsession is the gold watch with tortoise shell on the links.
9. Monogrammed iPhone Case
While I am waiting to find the perfect iPhone 5 case, my 4 cases came primarily from one site: Lipstick Shades. They have a variety of accessories and a great selection of cases for iPhones and iPads. Lipstick Shades is my favorite monogram website for tech accessories because they have such a wide range of prints, and they show you the print in full before you buy it—major plus!
10. A Cute Tumbler
I think that it is very important for each college student to carry around some sort of water bottle or tumbler that holds water or, more importantly, coffee. I have invested in a couple of tumblers to find out which has been my favorite so far, but I love all of them! My first purchase was the Lilly Pulitzer Tumbler. Available in several cute designs, it is very durable, and I have yet to be disappointed! Of course, my next favorite is this monogrammed tumbler on Etsy. It’s a unique idea—I’m obsessed!
