New York Fashion Week is around the corner (Thursday to be exact) and fashionistas all over the world are preparing. Celebrities, models, bloggers and buyers will all flock to the big city to catch the trends right off the runway. But for all of us who will be in class instead of sitting front row with Anna Wintour and North West, hereâs your guide to New York Fashion Week:
Thursday:
- BCBG Max Azria gave us the lace-up western details that weâve seen this winter so weâre excited to see what new trend the Califonian label will come up with this time (10:00 am)
- Kanye Westâs Yeezy Season 3 collection will show at 4 pm. The rapper-turned-designer will also debut his new album âWavesâ during the show. Weâre expecting more monochrome and spandex to match Kim Kâs wardrobe.
Friday:
- Much anticipated show from PUMA where Rihanna will debut her new collaboration with the brand.
Saturday:
- Alexander Wang returns to New York after spending three years with Balenciaga in Paris. He ended his time with the French fashion house leaving a trail of soft, feminine silhouettes while staying true to his typically relaxed style. We anticipate a bit of influence this season from across the pond. (5:00 pm)
Sunday:
- Diane Von Furstenberg will recreate the classic wrap-dress yet again at 5:00 pm. Last season, we saw DVF combined sexiness and sophistication through feminine menswear and a Carrie Bradshaw-like style office wear. Weâre expecting another trip to the past with classy 90s styles this season.
Monday:
- Mary Kate and Ashley Olsenâs brand The Row reflects the twinsâ style perfectly. Last seasonâs line featured oversized, chic silhouettes, in shades of black and white. We donât expect much different from these city girls but we canât help but hope for A New York Minute reference during the show. (9:00 am)
- Tommy Hilfiger took a vintage approach last season with 70s sportswear influences. We can expect some more throwback styles from this great American designer. (11:00 am)
- Jeremy Scott took us to the 60s last season with big hair and bright colors. It wouldnât be surprising to see more of the usual colorful shapes from this designer. (2:00 pm)
Tuesday:
- Tory Burch was another designer that got stuck in the 70s last season with color full details with a rusty tint. Weâre bound to see more polished styles this year. (9:00 am)
- Vera Wang is a staple when it comes to bridal wear, but her Fall â15 collection was anything but marital. The post-modern, (mostly black) collection made it clear that Vera Wang is much more than a wedding dress. More chic monochrome can be expected but weâd be happily surprised by a few colorful shades here and there this season. (11:00 am)
- Oscar de la Rentaâs successor, Peter Copping, will debut his second fall collection since de le Rentaâs death last October. Copping was off to a strong start last year but definitely had room to improve. Weâre hoping to see his growth as he starts his second full year as creative director. (6:30 pm.)
Wednesday:
- DKNY gave us a pop of color that we rarely see in New York last year. Donna Karenâs New York inspired label is so often on-trend that we canât wait to see what styles will come down the runway and into our closets this year. (3:00 pm)
Thursday:
- Ralph Lauren took us to winter in the West with last seasonâs fur and fringe details with classic Ralph Lauren colors, black, beige and ivory. This year weâre ready for more western influences with a possible vintage accent. (10:00 am)
- The Calvin Klein Collection combined simple and modern with a vintage and expensive. This season we hope to see another classic mixture of past and present. (2:00 pm)
- Marc Jacobsâ Fall 2015 collection turned âdark and twistyâ into high fashion. The collectionâs abstract patterns, dark makeup, and high leather boots all created a dangerous, risky vibe throughout the show. We donât know what to expect from this designer this year, be luckily the show is just days away! (6:00 pm)
We canât wait to check out all the new trends seen in this yearâs Fall/Winter collections. Last year there were a number of nods to the styles of the 60s and 70s and it seems as though future trends are going to stay in the 20th century (at least for one more year). On the press front, Zoolander 2 premiers this weekend and we wouldnât be surprised to see Derek Zoolander and Hansel at, or in, a few shows. The Grammys also air this Sunday, which means that some looks could be going directly from the runway to the red carpet. Keep an eye out to see whoâs sitting front row with our favorite celebs â and their children.Â
