6 Ways to Not Go Mad in March

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at App State chapter.

It’s March. March means spring and spring means warm weather. All of this would be true if we weren’t in Boone. Here, March means surprise snowstorms and winter jackets aren’t yet a thing of the past. To beat the awkward in-between of post-wintertime, pre-springtime blues, I have compiled a list of a few of my favorite things to do online so you won’t go “mad” in March:

1. Netflix: This is the cure for dull days. With hundreds of movies and tv shows to choose from it can be a little overwhelming. Netflix’s new original series House of Cards is incredible. It is a political thriller starring Kevin Spacey and an all-star cast. There are only 13 episodes and you will fly through it in no time. For a lighter option, Parks and Recreation is an off-beat comedy starring Amy Poehler. It is absolutely hysterical and there are 4 seasons to watch.

2. Groopdealz: I feel a little hesitant to share one of online shopping’s best kept secrets. Groopdealz.com has the absolute best deals on accessories. I have bought countless necklaces and earrings (including those pictured) and feel as if this website should come with a warning label: VERY ADDICTING.

3. Online Magazines: Nothing beats turning the pages of a print magazine, but the online versions often have exclusive content and interactive materials. Cosmopolitan and Glamour do a great job of keeping their websites updated and interesting; no subscription required.

4. Blogging and Websites: Blogs are the new business cards. It’s a good idea to start a blog or website that displays your resume or portfolio. Google’s Blogger is a great, free format for first time bloggers and even tracks your page views. For websites, there is nothing easier than Wix. Basic website designs are offered for free and incredibly easy to edit and personalize.

5. Amazon: You can buy absolutely anything and everything on Amazon. What most people don’t know is that students get Amazon Prime free for one year; that means free 2-day shipping. Online shopping will never be the same.

6. Pinterest: When in doubt, pin, pin, pin! Pinterest is the ultimate place for procrastination and planning. It seriously never gets old. Never.
