The Boone Beauty Report, Fab or Flop: Renpure Cowash

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at App State chapter.

This week, one of our team members tested Renpure’s Coconut Creme Cowash on her tangled tresses. Check out her review below!

Product being reviewed: Renpure Coconut Creme CowashProduct type: Hair careReviewer’s hair type: Thin, heat damaged, stringy, and long

This week, I decided I wanted to try something new with my hair. After recruitment, I had curled, teased, sprayed, and essentially frazzled my hair beyond belief. I took a trip to my local TJ Maxx to scour their beauty isle and see what I could find. I picked up this interesting product, a cowash. Cowashes are used in place of shampoos and they do not lather, due to their lack of sulfates. Instead, they gently cleanse the scalp and allegedly soften hair to give a glossy look.

I really wanted to give this a try because I felt like every time I washed my hair, I made it worse. My shampoo was cheap and harsh, and I could feel my hair getting dry as it began to break. On the website, which you can visit here, the product sells on an external link for $12.99. However, I found it at TJ’s for around $5.

After picking up the product on Monday, I wanted to wait for my hair to genuinely become dirty, just to ensure that my review was fair. I waited until Thursday morning to give it a go. My hair had product, grease, and even dry shampoo. I definitely had scalp build up that needed to go ASAP.

Here is the step by step of how the shower went:

Initial impression:The product comes out of the bottle like a very liquidy glue, but it is not sticky in any way. It smells like a coconut pie in here. Wow, I love pie.

Formula: The product spread easily, I used about eight to ten pumps and focused mainly on my ends and roots. I decided to leave it in while I washed my face and body, to let it soften my hair like a conditioner typically would. In my head I was thanking the good Lord and singing Usher. This product might just be 100% fab. “Goin’ no where fast we’ve reached the cliiiiiiimax…”

The Climax:Suddenly the shower smelled like a glorious coconut macaroon. I smelled like a glorious coconut macaroon. I debated nibbling on my own arm. My hair felt like genuine Chinese silk. I gave myself the best head massage I’ve ever received and actually enjoyed my first relaxing shower since coming to college.

FAB OR FLOP?

My hair feels soft, and thicker. As it dried, there is definite gloss. I have tons of split ends and heat damage, but for what I was working with, this product is totally fab, and worth the full price of $12.99. My scalp feels clean and I smell great! I definitely recommend it to girls with thinner hair, as women with naturally thicker hair may need more of a lather to feel “clean,” but it definitely worked for me.

FAB!!!
