Emotional Stages North Carolinians Go Through As It Continues to Rain

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at App State chapter.

Does anyone remember when it started raining? The sun came out the other day but before we could fully realize the value and enjoy it, the sky got dark and it poured cats and dogs.

At this point, we’ve grown use to the wetness. We’ve grown used to carrying a raincoat or umbrella. We don’t even wonder when the sun will come out anymore because we are more intereested in if it’ll flood.

But it wasn’t always this way. The first day it rained, we werent so prepared…

But the next day, you grabbed rain boots, a raincoat, and an umbrella.

Then, you start to get used to this rain. Maybe you wore your Chacos because it’s not cold yet and they can get wet. Maybe you still wore your rain boots because you think they’re just the cutest ever (like this puppy).

Then, you got to the stage where you don’t even care anymore. Soaking wet shoes after going to class and the gym despite the rain? You got this.

Oh, oh. But then, you see this bright light in the sky that you faintly remember what it feels like to see the sun…and you don’t think it could get worse.

Just like that, it’s gone, and the rain is back. But this time, it’s back…with a vengeance.

And you think, if you can’t beat it, join it, and start to appreciate it while everything starts to flood.

But then, you see that it’s a high chance of rain for who knows how long and start to believe that this is the way it’s going to be now.

Then, you remember California is in a draught…

How are you coping collegiettes?
