Did you know that if you go to 50 ASU Group Fitness classes this semester, you get a free t-shirt? With that kind of incentive, why not hit the gym?
Here are a few classes I recommend you try out:
Strength Training
My favorite class used to be Core Conditioning, until recently….
Two days later and I’m still sore as heck. Specifically, my arms. Right on the inside of my elbow. Do not ask me to bend them because I will probably squirm with pain, but I’ll probably still return to the next class session.
In this 45 minute class, you use an exercise ball, a mat, a weighted bar, two different size dumbbells and water—because trust me, you’ll need it. The class begins with easy warm-ups to get you going, moves to work your core, your arms, your legs and finishes with a cool down.
If you want a great workout that leaves you sore the next day, this is for you.

Pilates Sculpt
I have to admit I was nervous about Pilates, and I don’t know why, but I tried it out and it was definitely my kind of class. Also, I feel like it should be called ab yoga because it’s all about those abs with the breathing techniques of yoga.
BOGA
A couple years ago, I took an adult ballet and conditioning class. So naturally, when I saw a 30-minute class that combines ballet and yoga, I knew I had to give it a shot. Turns out, it’s more than just ballet techniques and yoga. It’s intense barre exercises to tone and sculpt the quads, glutes, calves and inner thighs.

Beginner Yoga
I have taken several beginner yoga classes, and almost every one left my body feeling rejuvenated and energized. I just prefer classes to push me passed my limits, keep me moving the entire time and/or have something to do with abs—I’m kind of obsessed with abs. (I once did 1,100 crunches on an exercise ball in one sitting.) However, if you need to destress, this is definitely the class you need.
Vinyasa Yoga
If you love the warrior pose, this class is for you because it’s just variations of warrior and downward dog poses over and over again. I’ll try it again when my balance gets better.
There are classes for just about everyone. From yoga and Pilates to Zumba and belly dancing, try a few classes each week, and you’ll get to 50 classes in no time!
