Meet Arianna Bonner, a member of Student Government’s cabinet as Director of Academic Affairs! Arianna is a junior and is majoring in History.
Q: What is your position on Student Government?
A: Director of Academic Affairs.
Q: What does SGA do for ASU?
A: SGA bridges the gap between the University and the Students. It provides means for communication between the people making decisions on behalf of the Student Body and the Students.
Q: What are your responsibilities in SGA?
A: My main responsibility is to be an advisor to the President and Vice President in regards to decisions made within the academic realm of the University where students are involved.
Q: How does Academic Affairs influence the Appalachian student body?
A: Academic Affairs represents the student body in a multitude of committees held within the University: library hours, text book rentals, faculty senate, and much more. Academic Affairs will stand up for the Student body in all of those areas.
Q: How can you get involved in SGA?
A: If you want to get involved with SGA (which I highly recommend) you can still petition in! It’s not too late! Just stop by the SGA office on the second floor of the student union and pick up a senator interest form or talk to any one of the cabinet members in the office. We want everyones involvement. Students not involved with student government can still make a difference. You do not have to be a senator to write legislation, you just have to find a senator to present the bill.
