Rolling around in her orange Jeep Compass is Ms. President, also known as Hollie Brown. Although studying economics and finance in banking in the Walker College of Business takes up most of her time, you can find Ms. Brown grubbing on some sushi at Cobo whenever she gets a second to chill.

Involved in multiple organizations, Hollie says that people may not realize how much she actually values her alone time.

“I constantly find myself around people 24/7, but there is nothing I love more than to curl up in a blanket and watch a good movie. I rarely have time to decompress or be alone so I love some quality time with myself.”

Hollie is involved with various organizations including: Walker Fellow in the Walker College of Business, Panhellenic President, member of Sigma Kappa Sorority, and a member of Bowden Investment Group.

She prides herself on how the woman at Appalachian has allowed her to become who she is.

“I always lived in other’s shadows and then I got to college and realized the opportunities that were available to me. So, I worked hard and became the woman that I wanted to be. I work hard and dedicate myself to bettering the organizations that I am a part of, it’s all about growing as a woman, leader and professional.”

Lightening up the questions a little, I decided to ask Ms. President her most embarrassing moment. Thankfully, it is one that most of us can relate to. “It was raining in Boone and I walked into Peacock Hall and was about to walk up the steps when I slipped and busted it on the stairs of the business school,” said Brown. “Naturally, it was class change and a busy time of the day so needless to say all my classmates saw it! I tried to get up and kept slipping down the steps looking like a baby giraffe walking for the first time.”

Probably 95% of people can say a version of that moment has happened to them. Especially if you go to App State where there is always some sort of precipitation on the ground.

It’s hard to believe that Ms. Brown was once a young, freshman at App State lacking self-esteem. She said college has treated her well and she is “sad to see it coming to an end.”

She says in 10 years she hopes to be married and have a secure career in Charlotte. Her dream job would be to own her own restaurant. She also mentioned how much she would love to be surrounded by her friends and family – children, maybe not, but “lots of dogs and chickens!”

So there you have it folks, the first story step to understanding the intriguing, hard working, successful, and beautiful inside and out, Ms. Hollie Brown.

We all know you will be super successful after graduation, so look for a Her Campus email in 10 years asking for a follow-up interview! ;)
