Here at Appalachian, style is something every college woman wants to achieve. Do-it-yourself trends have been popping up all over college campuses this season, and Appalachian State has not been left out! I think T-shirt necklaces have become very “in” here because every time I turn around, I see a girl looking oh-so stylish in a T-shirt necklace. If you have never seen them or are concerned about attempting to make one, I’m going to show you just how easy it is!
Â
You’re only going to need a T-shirt, ruler, and scissors…THAT’S IT! The T-shirt can be new, or something old that you don’t wear anymore. If you can’t seem to part with a T-shirt, I found one for $2.97 at Wal-Mart. I have also found that wider and larger sizes work best.
Â
Step 1: Cut the hem off of the bottom of the shirt. You won’t need this piece anymore.
Â
Step 2: Measure the T-shirt into 3/4-1 inch sections and begin cutting it into strips.
Â
Step 3: Cut the strips until you reach the arm sleeves. (Do not worry if the strips are not cut straight, it will not affect the finished product!)

Step 4: Once you have cut all the strips, gather a few at a time and stretch them. This will make them longer and make the edges curl up. Once you have stretched all of the strips, put them all together and stretch them one last time so that they are even.
Â
Step 5: You can either wear them long or short. If you choose to wear them short, double them up by looping them. Make sure you put one strip to the side for Step 6!
Step 6: Use one of the strips to wrap around all of the strips so that they stay in place.
And voila… you have your new, trendy necklace!
Don’t be afraid to make more than one! Once I started I couldn’t stop! (I ended up making three, all different colors and sizes!) Make one or a few and strut your stuff!
