7 Best Fashion Blogs

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Arizona chapter.

If you don’t spend at least half of your free time, or time in class perusing fashion blogs, you should probably reevaluate your priorities in life. Fashion blogs may seem like a mindless waste of time, but they can actually be a substantial reflection of the times. There is no denying the huge influence fashion bloggers have garnered in just a few short years. Bloggers are now seated in the front row during fashion week and have become muses of well-respected designers. Anyone can create a blog, but it takes more than a Canon Rebel and a BlogSpot account to gain loyal viewers. Those on the list below have helped legitimize fashion blogging into what it is today.
The Sartorialist Photographer Scott Schuman has paved the way for street style blogs (pun intended). His blog features regular people, and some not so regular who have exceptional style. Those who are photographed range from adorable French 3 year olds rocking petite pea coats, to fresh off the runway models to octogenarians still in their prime. Schuman has changed popular misconceptions about style; it’s more than simply being fashionable.
Le Fashion Image– This blog is a compilation of inspirational photos gathered from various editorials, blogs, tumblrs, books and magazines. There is truly something for everyone. Le Fashion Image takes the best of the best in fashion and puts it all in one place. Be warned: this blog is toxic. It is not unlikely for hours to go by clicking through pages before you have realized you missed your Spanish review.
Man Repeller Leandra Medine, a twenty something New Yorker’s blog is pure genius. Man repeller is a personal style blog, which features Medine’s outrageous, yet chic style. Man repelling is defined as outfitting oneself in a sartorially offensive way that will result in repelling members of the opposite sex. Medine reminds us all that fashion is about self-expression, not pleasing others. Her posts will have you laughing out loud, possibly crying.
Cupcakes and CashmereEmily Shulman is probably the closest thing to perfect to ever hit the interweb. She’s not the type of perfect that makes you want to write nasty comments on her posts. She is the every girl; she shows that it is possible to have it all on a modest budget. Cupcakes and Cashmere is also a food blog. She whips up things like homemade Girl Scout cookies and old-fashioned onion rings like it’s nothing. All condescending remarks aside, Shulman truly is an inspiration. Although it may be considered borderline voyeurism, she lets the world see how she embodies everything that is the modern American woman.
Karlas ClosetKarla Deras’s style is unapologetically cool and timeless.Everything she wears is like wearable art because she combines one of a kind thrift store finds with sky-high heels and American Apparel leotards. This is definitely a blog to hit up when you think you have nothing to wear. Karla’s Closet reminds us all that fashion is here to stay. She has achieved the most difficult thing in fashion: combining the classic with the inventive.
Blushing Ambition Recent Berkeleygrad Anabel is “content with spending more money on food than clothes.” This statement probably rings true for most college students, but those college students probably didn’t singlehandedly popularize the Fjällräven backpack. Her personal style is the definition of effortless. She doesn’t wear jewelry, except for a simple gold ring, yet always manages to look perfectly put together. Her popularity can be attributed to her reluctance to accept her fashionista status. If you get bored of her looking at her anti-hipster ensembles, the food porn and music suggestions should keep you going. Also check out her witty tumblr http://ornithes.tumblr.com/.
Song of Style – Hands down this is the most important blog for any collegiette. Song of Style is a personal style blog, which also spotlights interior design spaces, coveted pieces and Aimee Song is a girl on a budget. She is constantly rotating staple pieces that don’t cost a fortune. Song always posts links to her outfits so you can actually buy anything she wears that catches your fancy.
