Makenna Paule is University of Arizona student and Vice President of Panhellenic Health Promotions. She uses her position and her character to bring confidence to students.
Makenna Paule, whose job on the Panhellenic council is to oversee all health and wellness aspects of greek life, projects a personal importance in influencing all UA students to treat eachother with respect.Â
“One thing I really encourage people to do is to compliment others,” said Paule.
She believes that a community that works together, promoting self-respect and the respect of others, will create for a positive learning and social environment.
Paule, who is a member of Kappa Alpha Theta, is a large supporter of greek life and she encourages those student who feel like they don’t have a supportive, understanding, and positive environment to learn, and grow in, to consider going Greek.
Greek life as a whole, in addition to the work that the Panhellenic Council does, aims at promoting healthy lifestyles.
“One thing that college campues deal with, especially for woman, is that we really are faced with such a stigma about competitive body image and fat talk and negative views,” said Paule.
Paule promotes and over sees several different programs on campus that provide support for just this. She wants to show students that it does not matter what they are dealing with, that there will always be a safe place for them to find a community.
Paule believes the number one rule to any well functioning group of people is kindness, and if the UA campus could project this message all the time and to all people, things like depression, loneliness, and judgement wouldn’t have a place to survive.
“You never know when someone’s having a bad day, or if they’re feeling really down about themselves, said Paule. “So compliment your friends, compliment others and compliment yourselves.”
