Coachella is just around the corner and who doesn’t love a massive music festival. Four days of camping out in the sun, fried food, soda and band t-shirts. But with so many bands involved in Coachella, it can be hard to sift through the bands you want to see and the bands you really don’t. Here is a list of my suggested must see bands.
1. Allen Stone – He is a total hipster smooth sounding dream. I love his music. I can’t help snapping my fingers to the beat.
2. The XX – I was first introduced to this band when a friend of mine made a mix CD and “Heart Skipped a Beat” was on there. It was love at first listen. The male-female duet style is amazing.
3. Modest Mouse – I don’t think anyone needs to tell them how great this band is.
4. Parov Stellar – I don’t even know how to categorize this band. Their like an amazing mix up of electro-pop and up beat old school jazz.
5. The Red Hot Chili Peppers – In the words of my boyfriend “You could literally write a term paper on all of the achievements of The Red Hot Chili Peppers.” And let’s be honest, who doesn’t know every word to “Californiacation?”
6. Wu Tang Clan – For those of you who can’t get enough old school hip-hop.
7. Vampire Weekend – This band is awesome. If not solely for the wonderful video that is “A-Punk” then for the fact that they somehow managed to pull of an old school Beatle-esk sound with a modern twist.
8. Phoenix – Even if, like me, you can’t really understand what the heck these guys are saying, the sound is amazing and the beat is just fun.
9. Pretty Lights – It doesn’t even matter if you don’t particularly like the way this band sounds. You need to see them for the simple fact that they are amazing performers.
10. Yeah Yeah Yeahs – One word: Maps.
Obviously there is an insane amount of bands, both old and new, to experience at the greatness that is Coachella. These are just my personal top ten of hella Coachella.
