Oversleep Again? Don’t Fret: Tips for Getting Ready in 10 Minutes or Less!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Arizona chapter.

It’s Monday morning after an exhausting weekend. You wake up, roll over and glance at your clock, only to realize that it reads 7:42 AM. While cursing your alarm clock and mumbling random expletives to yourself, you realize that your first class starts in 18 minutes, and it takes nearly half of that time just to get to the building. What do you do?
While the initial response would be to either a) roll over and go back to sleep (because who needs to go to English anyway?), or b) crawl of bed, throw your hair in a messy bun, and leave (and hope nobody cares that you’re wearing purple sweatpants and a red t-shirt), there are simple ways to put yourself together when you’re short on time. Personally, I know that when I feel like I didn’t just roll out of bed, I tend to have a better attitude about my day.

Makeup: A little brightener, bronzer, blush and mascara can go a long way. Use your favorite under-eye brightener (I prefer Ooh La Lift by Benefit) to conceal dark circles and add a little more life and excitement to your tired eyes.

Depending on your foundation routine, you might consider using foundation or primer before applying bronzer and blush. Using a shimmery bronzer with your favorite blush will add a good amount of color to your face and make you sparkle!

Mascara is magic. Using just a bit of mascara can define your eyes and make them look  much more awake and brighter. Check out good lengthening and volumizing mascaras, such as “Falsies” by Maybelline. Since you’ll be forgoing eyeliner, apply some mascara to your lower lashes to add a little more definition to your eyes.

Hair: Obviously, the go-to hairstyle for all college girls is the infamous messy bun. It’s easy, cute, and quick. However, there are hairstyles that take as little time and are even cuter. My favorite resource for these hairstyles is definitely YouTube. Below, you can find some great tutorials on how to put together a cute ‘do in a pinch!

Clothing: Though I am often tempted, I am not a fan of wearing full-on pajamas to class. You never know when you could run into somebody important! In a rush, my favorite items are maxi dresses, running shorts and a t-shirt, or jeans with a cute top that doesn’t require much accessorizing. All of these outfits are cute, simple, and easy to throw together. Go through your closet and put together a few “go-to” outfits in your mind so you’ll always have something on hand.

These tips combined shouldn’t take more than 5-10 minutes, so you can be on time to class and still looking adorable! Good luck!
