This week’s campus celeb is Cicely Shannon! Cicely is a senior international economics major from Texarkana, Arkansas, but devotes much of her time to things other than school work. She is the Chief of Staff for ASG, an Honor’s College Ambassador, and is a member of Phi Mu. She is also a part of the Student Alumni Association, Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society, Mortar Board Honor Society, and serves on the events committee for the Volunteer Action Center. This year she also had the opportunity to be a part of the U of A homecoming court. Obviously, Cicely can do it all!
Outside of school, though, Cicely says she likes to read, binge watch movies with her roommates, and make crafty things for her friends.
Cicely said her favorite memory about U of A was getting to ride out onto the field with Tusk for homecoming. “There was so much energy in the crowd. It was also really nice that I got to share the experience with the rest of the court because most of them I had been friends with. It would have been great to do with anyone, but sharing it with them meant a lot more,” Cicely says.
After college, Cicely plans on going to intern in Washington D.C. with the Truman Scholar Summer Institute. And after that, Cicely says “we’ll see.”
Cicely also says what inspires her the most is people who take their passions and turn them into their future or career. That, and books!
