Best of Both Worlds – Mixing Casual and Fun

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at ASU chapter.

There have been many elements of fashion that have been found on the ASU Downtown campus. Separated from the other three campuses (we have four in total: Tempe, West, Polythecnic, and Downtown), this campus stands out for mixing casual with conservative! Many students hold internships and have professional opportunities, so this campus is the perfect place to see business and fun in action!

While it may feel like one can only dedicate their wardrobe to business or fun, being downtown has shown me that one can mix these two wardrobe styles.

Below, are some examples of style trends that can work for an internship, class, or anything in-between.

Downtown Phoenix Campus: Style

Cute accessories that maintain a subtle air, while not being too distracting, are a staple for all wardrobes on the campus. I loved this piece, which is perfect to wear for a job or internship, as well as to class!

If you are in the area, Charming Charlie is the best place to go for accessories that are adorable and won’t break your budget. Also, there are many local artists that make jewelry that can be found during local First Friday events.

Another staple for outfits is the handbag. I love this tan piece that is shown here; it makes the outfit stand out. Also, one can carry many of the things they have in it.

Places like Urban Outfitters, which is close to campus, are a great place to find bags like this! Also, Buffalo Exchange, a popular thrift store in the area, has a good selection of bags as well that won’t break the budget.

The picture does not show how adorable these shoes are. They were heels, but comfortable enough to walk around in. Shoes make the whole professional-working persona, as well.

Poor Little Rich Girl has a great selection of shoes! A resale shop, this Valley location has many name brands that won’t break the bank.

Being on the Downtown campus means that there are many journalism students walking around. With this, many of them are pursuing the study of photojournalism. This is an opportunity for many great camera straps!

Camera Straps are available on Etsy, Amazon, and other online marketplaces. Sassy Strap on Etsy is a great place to order straps, FYI!

I'm a college freshman with a love for anything pop culture. I like to dance, sleep, and be surrounded by positivity.
