The catcher of the ASU Softball Team sat down with me for a talk about how she balances not only her sorority, softball team obligations, and school….. but just how she finds some time to herself during it all!
Age, Major, Hometown?
I’m 20- years old, a Health Science major with a minor in Human Development, and my hometown is Lakewood, CA.
Tell us about the softball.
Well, I’m a catcher, and have been on the ASU softball team for about two-and-a-half years now. I came to ASU because I had a scholarship for it!
What is it like being on a sports team here at ASU?
I love being on ASU’s Softball Team! It is a lot of fun being surrounded by such great players and people. I almost feel like a celebrity sometimes, too.
You are on the USA Softball Team, right?
Yes! I was invited to try-out last summer and made the 17 women roster. It was amazing because I got to represent my country doing what I love to do. It was awesome getting to play with the best of the best players, and I definitely learned a lot from them. It has taken me to some really cool places and it is something that I will always cherish.
What are your goals for this softball season at ASU?
Well I am hoping we win a national championship, and really I just wanna be the best teammate I can be.
You seem so busy, what do you do on your free time?
I love to shop, eat, and just sleep! I am also a member of Kappa Alpha Theta.
What do people not normally know about you?
I don’t think a lot of people know that I love to read. I also used to be extremely shy…. But that has changed since I came to college.
What are some of your goals after school?
I’m hoping to play professional softball in Japan for a few years, maybe coach for college. Then eventually I want to go to nursing school and become a registered nurse!
