Since Autumn is upon us, it’s finally socially acceptable to start binge-watching Halloween movies! All the movies mentioned are perfect for cozying up on the couch with your favorite fall treat and a comfy blanket. If you’re not a fan of horror movies, but still want to embrace the spooky season then these films are for you!
Hocus Pocus is probably my number one favorite Halloween movie. It follows teenager, Max Dennison, his little sister, Dani, and their new friend, Allison. After Max accidentally releases three witch-y sisters who used to live in the abandoned house they were exploring, they must work together to stop the coven of witches from becoming immortal. The movie takes place in Salem, Massachusetts, and it provides all the spooky vibes you need to get into the Halloween spirit!
While “Practical Magic” isn’t necessarily a Halloween movie, it still qualifies as one in my book because it’s about two sisters who are witches! The two sisters, played by Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman, are cursed. This deadly curse is meant to prevent them from ever finding love, which is now my excuse for why my love life sucks, despite the fact that this movie is fictional! They navigate through all the challenges of this curse and living in a small prejudiced town together, filling this film with magic and sisterly love!
The Nightmare Before Christmas
This iconic Disney movie includes aspects of both Halloween and Christmas! Jack Skellington, the Pumpkin King of Halloweentown, got bored with Halloween and tried to change up his annual routine by stealing Christmas. His plan to take over Christmas goes seriously wrong and he ends up turning little boys’ and girls’ Christmas cheer into a nightmare.
