Happy New Year! It’s finally 2019, a time when we look back at all the memories we’ve made. January is a month full of optimism and promises sprinkled with a dash of courage. In honor of this new year, I wanted to share with you the new experiences I’ve already completed. Although some may seem trivial, every new experience is meaningful and may inspire you to try something new.

  1. I wore a crop top for the first time. Publicly!

  2. I bought a baker boy hat! As a girl with a thick head of curls, this is a major feat.

  3. I ate an oyster. And didn’t love it.

  4. I took a road trip alone. And loved it!

  5. I watched Sex and the City.

  6. I flew across the country to D.C. alone for the first time.

  7. I auditioned for an acapella group despite my nerves.

  8. I finished a 3,000+ page trilogy I started reading 3 years ago.

  9. I decided to study abroad in Spain in 2020.

  10. I spoke out about sexism in the workplace.

For me, January is not about resolutions and changing who I am. It’s about looking back at what you’ve accomplished, both big and small. All accomplishments are significant and make you a more confident woman. My wish for the new year is for you to appreciate what you accomplished in 2018. Happy New Year!
