Brittany Broski and Sarah Schauer of TikTok, Instagram, Twitter, Spotify, and YouTube are a comedian’s dream come true. They are funny together and separate, and even live in the same loft!
“You know, I never knew that I would have the power and platform as I do now,” said Broski.
Her recent start on TikTok as ‘Kombucha Girl,’ she had no clue that her stairway to stardom was only beginning. Growing up in Texas made her childhood, yet she earned her degree from Texas A&M and kept growing from there.
“When we’re not filming, we’re taking out special calls and attending meetings. But we film the episodes a few at a time in case one of us is traveling,” said Schauer.
“We have a running notes app list that we keep and share with each other. We put our ideas there and add to it whenever we think of something. It’s always fun to see when we each add to it at random hours of the day.” added Broski.
Their shared podcast, “Violating Community Guidelines” on all podcast platforms is humorous and down to earth. Broski and Schauer put on a show with Studio 71 that is light-hearted and eye-opening. Covering topics like Facebook Marketplace to Fanfiction, there is a never-ending potential for a laughing six-pack.
These two women are strong, intelligent, and respectful of how sensitive and taboo their topics are, yet make light of who they are speaking about. Their recognition for the discourse communities involved is at the highest level of respect.
“You know, we’re being silly, BUT we’re also talking about real people who are invested in these groups. People have known about Creepypasta for over a decade, and people identify as a furry too, so we just have to understand that these are real people with real identities,” said Broski and Schauer.
Their research person, Stanley, is a staple in the behind-the-scenes work that involves putting on this show. Broski and Schauer are busy people with plenty of work to go around, and they have an amazing team of editors that help with videos from their personal YouTube and social media pages, to their vocal productions. Knowing just how prized and worshipped their works are is what makes the Vine, YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok generation know them best.
Nowadays, social media is used as a marketing platform for celebrities to share their partnerships with popular or up-and-coming brands. It is also a sneak peek into someone’s personal life. Knowing how important following people is when finding your sense of humor and even understanding yourself further.
Brittany and Sarah’s internet power has continued to rise during the Covid-19 pandemic, but their sense of humor has only skyrocketed from there. Sarah’s background in content writing and Brittany’s previous life working in a bank before starting a new life together is just the beginning of proving their bosses wrong.
As both Schauer and Broski rise in their fame with a following, their names will be written in history books as powerful, inspirational, and down-right hilarious women behind the voices of Violating Community Guidelines.
