Despite 17 seasons, most of which have resulted in failed relationships, this season of The Bachelor has definitely delivered. Sean Lowe, who was sent packing just before last season’s finale of The Bachelorette by Emily Maynard, has proven to be the ideal representation a true Southern Gentleman.  Sure, Sean’s experienced his fair share of drama but now that the walking melodramatic shop of horrors that was Tierra has finally been sent home, things are about to get very interesting. President’s Day episode brings us dedicated viewers the coveted hometown dates, the chance to glimpse farther into the lives of the four remaining women (AshLee, Desiree, Catherine, and Lindsay) and see who we think Sean’s going to pick. Just in case you haven’t been religiously watching this season, here’s what you missed!
AshLee Frazier seems to be the favorite to end up with the ring. At 32, she’s the most mature of the group, and she received one of the many first impression roses night one.  It seemed unsure if AshLee would be making it to hometowns after Sean learned she was the girl who confronted Tierra and caused her to be sent home.  She has seemed silly and overly sweet at some points during the season as she has attempted to open up and let go of her control, but her heart-wrenching story about struggling with adoption has put America on her side. Plus, she has the Texan charm that meshes well with Sean. He didn’t even care when she told him she was married at 17 and divorced by 18. The fact that she was the first contestant to say “I Love You” probably overshadowed that fact.
Desiree Hartsock has also endured her share of drama this season, and if the previews for Monday’s episode are any indication it isn’t going to stop. Des was one of the first women out of the limo and received the second one-on-one date, making her one of the early front-runners. She was also the first contestant to get two one-on-one date, where she opened up to Sean about her rough childhood. Her family lived in various trailers and tents due to lack of money, but she said it didn’t matter because her parents are so in love. It became clear from that moment on that Desiree wasn’t going anywhere and even more so after the group date in St. Croix when she hogged most of Sean’s time.  This week, Sean will be traveling to Colorado to meet her parents and brother, where it seems more drama will unfold. If Sean really does get into a fight with her brother I can’t say it’s likely Desiree sticks around.  Sean’s too much of a gentleman to keep her from her family!
Catherine Giudici has surprisingly flown under the drama-radar.  She’s extremely pretty and down to earth, and has won Sean’s affection by being completely carefree and basically normal. After a cheesy one-on-one date playing in the Canadian snow, things got incredibly somber the next week. Happy-go-lucky Catherine opened up about her relationship with her father. She received the first rose after telling Sean she witnessed her dad’s suicide attempt when she was 14 on the group date. But at the end of the rose ceremony she dissolved into tears when Sean sent (my favorite!) Lesley M. home because “if he doesn’t want her, why would he want me?”. And based on the preview for tomorrow’s episode, things don’t go well when Sean meets her sisters in Seattle.
Lindsay Yenter has been this season’s dark horse. When she walked out of the limo in a wedding dress on the first night, you would have been insane to think she’d make it to hometowns. But somehow the quirky girl has come up from behind to receive the only rose on last week’s group date, in which she and Sean laughed about how their relationship started. On her first one-on-one date in Montana, Lindsay filled Sean in on her army brat past and what it was like growing up in different countries with a very strict father. In the preview for hometowns, it looks like her dad isn’t too keen on letting his daughter hookup for the long run with Sean. Little does he know, his baby girl spends the majority of her time with Sean with her tongue down his throat. I’m sure that’s something every father definitely wants to see.
Now as any fan of The Bachelor knows, absolutely anything can happen. Personally, I’d like to see Lindsay win. While I don’t think it would last, it’d be nice to see the quirky silly girl win for a change!
