As we all know, the last weeks of the semester are upon us. Soon, we will all be parting ways to go home for Thanksgiving, and then we have one little week before we’re all over-caffeinated, stressed-out college students. In order to prepare for those quickly approaching finals, here are a few tips:Â
1. Plan and Prepare
Pull out that planner you bought at the beginning of the semester that you’ve been meaning to use and plan out these last weeks. Write in study time (and mean it), breaks, encouraging thoughts, and anything else you will need to get yourself to the end of this semester. You will thank yourself later.Â
2. Stay Healthy
We all know the worst thing is to be sick during finals week, so work on staying healthy sooner rather than later. Drink plenty of water, eat healthy (that includes snacks), adequate sleep, and excercise. If you feel a cold coming on, hit with some Emergen-C early on and keep trucking.Â
Tip: Starting your day with a healthy breakfast is good way to get your body wanting healthy food all day.Â
3. Dress for Success
I know, I know. Finals week is for dressing in your PJs and looking as stressed and tired as possible. But if you follow the “Dress for Success” guideline, then you will look and feel confident for your upcoming finals. I work to do this every time I have a test and I can say it honestly does help. This doesn’t mean you have to dress as if you’re going to a business interview, just dress cute and radiate your confidence all over campus.Â
4. Have Fun
Yes, the semester is ending and that means stress and tests, but that doesn’t mean you’re not allowed to have fun. Grab your friends and have a Friendsgiving and/or do a Secret Santa with your friend group. Enjoy yourself.
5. Sleep Well
For extra emphasis (because every one always pulls an all nighter during finals week) please get enought sleep. Last finals week I got an average of 8 hours every night and I felt more alert during my exams and was able to thing clearly. You know whether or not you know the info, so staying up all night is not likely to help your grade; it’s actually more likely to hurt it. So please, as we all take our last exams and then into finals week, get adequate sleep.Â
