Meet Terea Abernathy, who will be serving as the new president for Her Campus Auburn for the 2016-2017 school year. Terea has been a part of Her Campus Auburn going on four years as she now enters her senior year of college. Terea is a staff writer, and she says that as president, she looks forward to “seeing how the social media team works and how much we can promote our relationship with Auburn’s student body next year.”
Terea and Ingrid Schnader (Her Campus Auburn’s new editor-in-chief) are working hard on planning more fun events for the upcoming school year. Together, they have a long list of philanthropy events, as well as collaboration events with other student organizations, and will continue the tradition of promoting women’s health, rights and ideas. “We are making big plans on building a stronger team bond with our chapter,” Terea says. “So look out for those events too!”
Her Campus means a tremendous amount to Terea as it is not just an organization to her. Rather, it’s a place where she can elaborate on her ideas, work with other strong individuals and together reach a new level of readers. After getting involved with Her Campus Auburn, Terea says that she has “grown so much within the last three years” and that she “owes a good portion of it to Her Campus!” When asked about her time working with Her Campus, Terea says that she has “been surrounded by people who [she] believes in and believe in [her].” She goes on to say that Her Campus Auburn has been the best outlet to step away from her studies. Her favorite thing in the world is when people say that they loved her article or they follow Her Campus Auburn and like what they see. Terea says, “It’s an amazing feeling to know you aren’t the only one reading your own work.”
Terea will make a great president as she hopes to create the same environment for young women to come and share their dreams, concerns and ideas. Best of luck to you, Terea!
