(Dedicated to a couple I share space with)
Seeing, from this outsider lens.
A kitchen with warmth- tasty smells that wander down the hallway
Sharing of tasks, and the domestic of eating a meal prepared as a team
Loud banter and laugher
causes the dimples in the walls to crinkle- make things feel more like a home
The simpleness of moments I too, used to know
But now I contently watch-Â Smash Brothers matches, homework sessions from some random spot
Unsure of time passing as I soak in companyÂ
However, fortunate that my presences not overbearing, but welcomed
No one seems to like a 3rd wheel generally
But here I can smile, for I know they careÂ
While I watch the sister who I’ve grown with, finally get treated the way she has always wanted and desired
Treated how a leader needs, what’d I’ve wanted for her since we’ve met
I can’t help but focus on how much has changed
How contented we both seem to be
I learning to love myself, she gaining support in a kind companion far overdue
I’m so happy to be an observer of their own little world
Filled with bad impressions, Pokémon Go, and the simple livening of space
For I believe that everyone in my life deserves the kind of love that brings about poetry
The kind that can be sprinkled with fuzzy cliches and contentment
Hopeful and rich with plans for the rest of our livesÂ
Even if we don’t have all the answers
I feel that’s what we really wantÂ
To feel secure
