David Letterman, arguably Ball State’s best-known alumnus, graced the university with his presence on Nov. 30 at Emens Auditorium. It was an eventful evening as Letterman interviewed two prominent Hollywood filmmakers – Spike Jonez and Bennett Miller – and the conversation had some interesting moments.
Throughout the night, these were our top 10 thoughts while listening to our favorite talk show host keep it real.
Â
1. DAVE IS HERE! Even though we only knew he was coming a few weeks before hand, there’s no need to prepare. David Letterman HAS ARRIVED!
2. Is it possible to love Dave any more? President Paul Ferguson just announced that Dave is donating his Late Show set and memorabilia to the university! YAS!
3. What is THAT? When Dave walks onto stage looking like Charles Darwin, you can’t help but do a double-take.
4. Who are these guys again? Not really sure who Spike Jonez and Bennett Miller are, but we like their movies, so I’m sure they’re going to have great things to say!
5. Okay, maybe not. They’re not really talking that much. Dave – help these guys out.
6. Uh, Bennett Miller, what are you saying? Did he just denounce women in the film business and compare men in the industry to murder rates? Yep.
7. Oh no. He’s still talking. Dave, HELP.
8. Okay, there we go. Dave’s playing some fun little videos. That should ease the mood.
9. Woo-hoo! Go Ball State theater students! The two film guests offered to recreate a movie scene with two students! So lucky!
10. We made it out alive. There were some intensely awkward moments in there, but Dave got us through. You go, Dave. You go.
