1. It’s only temporary
You only need to put up with your parents for a limited amount of time before they go back to where they came from.
2. You can take advantage of all the generosities provided by the other parents who come to visit.
3. Despite what all of your friends may have thought, having your parents here proves you were not, in fact, raised by wolves.
4. You can now get your dorm room restocked with important essentials: ramen noodles, trail mix, chips, more doughnuts, and a lava lamp (obviously the most essential)
5. Parents will take you out to get real food
Not to say that Commons isn’t real, but I think my diet needed more diversity than the usual French fries/ice cream combo.
6. Your parents are so appalled by the messiness in your room that out of sheer horror they clean it for you
7. Your parents will become nostalgic for their years in college and share stories from their prime (Disclaimer: some stories are better left untold)
8. You can share with your parents a new part of your life.
This is the first time your parents aren’t actually there to watch you grow up, so parent’s weekend is a time to condense all the memories from your time at college so far into a few days and cherish the time you have with them.
But in the end, let’s be real, I have a lot of homework so you guys have to go.
