10 Achievable Goals for Summer

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BC chapter.

While we all can’t wait to get out of school and enjoy the warm months going to the beach and lounging by the pool, summer can be a time of stagnation. Although we may feel burnt out from a tenuous school year, summer is the perfect time to rejuvenate, explore fresh things, and set new goals. Below is a list of ten easily, fun, and achievable goals to tackle this summer.

1.     Read 3 books: I know what you’re thinking—summer is the time where we can finally put down the books. BUT reading for pleasure is something that’s both enjoyable and relaxing. So grab a mug of tea and get lost in the literary word of your favorite classics (or try something new!).

2.     Run a 5k: Running a 5k is not only great exercise but is also very rewarding. With a little training and practice, it’s something everyone can do. And who cares if you run, walk, cartwheel—a 5k is a 5k!

3.     Pick up a new hobby: New hobbies are something we should always be open to. Not only can you pick up something cool and exciting, but you might also meet some great people along the way.

4.     Have a dinner party: Who doesn’t like getting dressed up, making delicious food for your friends, and catching up on all the gossip? No one. So have a dinner party!

5.     Crash your rival’s dinner party: Just kidding, don’t do that. Bad idea.

6.     Take more pictures: Great times can be fleeting. Capture those memories! The more pictures the better (you will be thankful later).

7.     Organize your closet: No matter how “neat” you may be, organizing your closet is something we all need to do. Whether this be refolding, color coding, or getting rid of clothes you no longer wear, you and your closet will definitely benefit.

8.     Meet up with an old friend: You know that friend that you used to be super close with but haven’t heard from in ages? Yeah, call them, catch up and do something fun!

9.     Attend a concert: Summer is concert central. Find your favorite band, see where they are touring, and go enjoy some great music.

10. Write someone a letter: While letter writing is not common, it’s still something fun to do when you have some free time. So send one out to a family member or friend. Who knows—maybe you’ll get a letter back!
