With graduation coming up way too soon for me to accept, it’s time to finally check off all the items on my Boston bucketlist! Here’s those last-minute memories I still wish to make during my final few weeks at BC:
1. Kayak the Charles
Now that the Charles River Canoe & Kayak has opened its doors back open for kayak and canoe rentals, it’s time to hit the River! You can start your journey very close along Soldiers Field Road in Allston-Brighton or in Kendall Scare, Cambridge, and then paddle five miles to the opposite location. The cost of a one-way trip for a single kayak is only $15 an hour, and is a great way to see the entire city.
2. Go to Tavern in the Square for Brunch
Tavern in the Square in Allston is one of my squad’s favorite places to spend our Thursday nights– but did you know that they also have a full brunch buffet on weekends?! This is definitely on my list of meals to eat before I graduate!
3. Sneak into the Gasson Belltower
For those seniors lucky enough to get into that one Capstone that lets you into the Gasson Belltower, I am beyond jealous. Somehow, someway, and possibly in the middle of the night, I will get myself up to the famous Gasson Belltower. All I need now is a boyfriend so we could carve our initials together… but that’s another story.
4. Take a Ride on the Swan Boats
Ahh the Swan Boats at the Boston Public Garden… the perfect date idea for a weekend. These Swan Boats have been a Boston staple for over 135 years and costs only $3.50 a person for a 12-15 minute ride. I’m ready for those warm May days in the Public Garden when I can finally take a ride on the Swan Boats!
5. Tour Sam Adams Brewery
Sam Adams Brewery has been a highlight of the Boston-area for years and their famous tour is always a popular attraction for tourists and locals. On the free tours (where donations are suggested but not required), visitors get a taste of not only the history and the brewery itself but also of its amazing beers. Tours are every 45 minutes and last for about an hour making them a great Friday afternoon excursion into Boston!
6. Get a Drink at the Top of the Hub
Hey I may not have an income next year (thanks, grad school), but I definitely am willing to break open the piggy bank for a drink at the Top of the Hub. Their drink list has me way too excited to visit this iconic Boston location!
7. Tour Fenway
Boston’s iconic baseball park, Fenway Park, offers public tours of its amazing facilities for one hour. Tickets are $18 per person but from what I’ve heard, are definitely worth the price!
8. Boston Duck Tour
The infamous Boston Duck Tour, described as a “WWII style amphibious landing vehicle”, is one of the most fun and tourist-y things you can do in Boston. Tours are $31 for students but completely worth it for the 80 minute tour of some of the best sites Boston has to offer. Definitely recommended!
9. Visit the Aquarium
The New England Aquarium, located in Boston’s Central Wharf is a great way to further explore what Boston has to offer. Through the Robsham website, you can request your one free Aquarium ticket per BCID so you can enjoy for free!
10. Enjoy every moment with my friends!
With graduation so close, I’m going to enjoy each and every minute I have left with my friends. I cannot wait to continue to make memories with them during these final days, during Senior Week, and beyond in our post-grad life! As corny as it may sound (maybe it’s the emotional senior in me talking) but I am truly so lucky to have met such amazing friends at BC.
