Every school has its “secrets”: from secret study spots to experiences you might not know about that you should definitely take advantage of and everything in between. Over the course of my time here, I’ve discovered a few myself and I asked some friends to contribute some of their own. Here are some of the best kept “secrets” at BC:
- “All the ‘A’ numbered mods have an attic and all the ‘B’ numbered mods have a basement.” – Jenn Fuksman
- “There is an underground tunnel connecting Gonzaga and Kostka on Upper Campus.” – Diana Sanborn
- “There is a chapel in Cushing.” – Mary Bridget Kane
- “There are some great study rooms on the first floor of Fulton.” – Kimmi Vo
- “There is a weekday mass in Conte Forum.” – Mary Bridget Kane
- “There is an unmarked door near Gate B (the student section entrance) in Alumni behind the last concession stand that you can use to go out through Conte if the Alumni gate is locked.” – Meghan Daly
- “Campion has a library called the ERC as well as a number of classrooms that are great for studying during finals.” – Diana Sanborn
- “Try microwaving the double chocolate chip cookies from lower for about 20 seconds, you won’t be sorry.” – Caroline Kohler
- “Sledding hill outside Voute…watch out for that tree!” – Elizabeth Powers
- “Take advantage of weekly lunches with Jesuits. You get to meet a Jesuit and you get a free lunch in the Faculty Dining Room in McElroy!” – Diana Sanborn
- “Befriend a senior studio art major and have them bring you to Studio Art Building near Hovey House.” – Patrick Hughes
- “If you ever go to the Dover Retreat Center, look for the secret door.” – Erica Paglierani
- “There are secret tree stairs to the Shaw House.” – Mosie Duhe
- “Befriend a Jesuit and have him take you up to the roof of St. Mary’s once it reopens.” – Diana Sanborn
- “You can get free fries at Shake Shack with a BC ID.” – Mosie Duhe
- “Swimming lessons at the Plex. Yes, they exist and yes, they’re grrrrreat!” – Elizabeth Powers
- “There are comfy chairs hidden in the stacks with the Balzac books on the fourth floor of O’Neill.” – Mosie Duhe
- “There is a street off campus up by upper (Suffolk Road between Woodman Road and Lawrence Road) that doesn’t have any parking restrictions so you can park there overnight.” – Ashley Francis
- “There is free parking on Commonwealth Avenue behind the MBTA parking but in front of the entrance to Brighton Campus. There is no need for a parking permit and no sign, just look out every other Friday for street cleaning!” – Enrique Saldivar
