Best Places to Shop Around Campus for Holiday Gifts

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BC chapter.

Christmas is fast approaching, which means that it’s time to make your Christmas list of everything that you need to pick up for friends and family. While it may seem daunting to find everything that you need, there are plenty of places around BC that will help you start to cross things off.

Newton Center

  • Newton Center has tons of places to shop for friends and family as well as a Starbucks to fuel you up before your shopping spree. There is a National Jean Company for your sisters and friends, a MiniLuxe for any nail polish and gift cards that you might need, and a Papyrus for lots of fun Holiday cards and decorations for your house. I love getting all of my cards from Papyrus because they are seriously so pretty, and even though they may cost a little, I think that they’re worth it.

Newbury Street

  • Newbury Street offers anything and everything that you might want in one place. It is so beautiful around Christmas and perfect to sit and grab dinner with your friends after shopping. From Anthropologie to Nordstrom Rack, you are sure to find everything that you need. I love checking out some of the smaller boutiques too for interesting and unique gifts, if you have the time.

Faneuil Hall

  • Home of the Boston Christmas Tree, Faneuil Hall is always decked out for Christmas. There are tons of fun touristy shops (a Boston gift can be appreciated by many), as well as stores that you will typically find in any mall. I think that it offers a great variety if you are looking to get lots of shopping done in one day. Plus, there is tons of yummy food and Holiday cheer to go around.

Coolidge Corner

  • Coolidge Corner has tons of stores to check out and it’s just up a short ride up the C line. Mint Julep offers tons of cute clothes and accessories and Brookline Booksmith is great for any book or recipe lovers that you need to shop for. I also love hanging out down there and exploring all of the restaurants and fro-yo places with my friends.

The Street at Chestnut Hill/Chestnut Hill Square

  • These two newly opened shopping centers are right off of the Chestnut Hill stop on the D Line or just a short walk from campus. They seriously have such amazing stores that you don’t normally see around such as J. McLaughlin, Intermix, and Splendid. This is a great place to go right around BC if you don’t want to go all the way into the city.

Happy Holidays and Happy Shopping!
