The Campus School Presents: Dick Hoyt

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BC chapter.

Come join the Campus School in Devlin 008 on February 18 at 6:30pm in welcoming speaker Dick Hoyt.

Rick Hoyt uses a wheelchair but that has not stopped him from living his life. He’s competed in the Boston Marathon 30 times and in Ironman Triathlons six times. He, along with his dad, Dick, have formed “Team Hoyt,” with the motto “Yes You Can.”

Rick is a graduate of Boston University with a degree in Special Education. Although he was born as a spastic quadriplegic with cerebral palsy and as a non-speaking person Rick has never given up on himself.

Dick is a retired Lieutenant Colonel who now travels the country educating people about disability awareness. Through his talks, Dick shows people that life with a disability is still a wonderful and fulfilling life. His passion and excitement for the things he does and the love he has for his family shines through whenever he speaks.
