As my sophomore year comes to a close, I can’t help but be grateful for the one thing I was dreading most back in August: living on CoRo. While most people think CoRo absolutely sucks, and believe me, I’m not saying it’s the most ideal place to live on campus, it has really grown to be my haven here at BC. Situated on a quiet corner of Upper Campus, the walk up the many staircases to the fourth floor of Williams Hall (which, most delivery places do not even know exists) has become my norm and I’m not ready to leave my home.
My sophomore year experience would not have been the same if I did not meet the girls of Williams 4. Somehow, I was lucky enough to end up on the best floor on BC’s campus! What many people don’t realize about the dorms on CoRo is how great living on a communal floor is. A bunch of my friends in Walsh and Vandy still don’t know the people who live on their floor, which baffles me. Since the first day of school, my floor established an open, social feel to it and since then, we’ve truly become a family.
Nothing brings people together like walking up four flights of stairs every day to get to your dorm room, eating in Mac surrounded entirely by freshman, and having shower parties in the communal bathroom. CoRo is a place of true bonding, and I am proud to be a part of the Corority.
Who says BC doesn’t have Greek Life? Maybe if people made the trek up to CoRo more often, they would realize that the best, most exclusive club at BC is made up of the five hundred sophomores who suffer it out together by living in the least desired area on campus. There is something to be said for being the few unlucky souls who don’t get an eight-man, and knowing that everyone on CoRo is in the same boat brings us together.
In a way, I feel fortunate to have not received an eight-man pick-time back in March of 2013. Instead of being confined to a suite made up of seven of my freshman year friends, I have been exposed to a floor of 20+ new friends. The girls on my floor soon became my family and I will forever be grateful to have met such a wonderful group of people.
So this one goes out to my ladies of Williams 4! I am so grateful to have spent my sophomore year on a floor filled with such talented, beautiful, smart, and fun people. For those soon-to-be-sophomores reading this article, know that CoRo is what you make of it. Don’t sulk in the fact that you don’t live in Walsh or Vandy, because some of your best friends in college could come from your dorm on CoRo. I know some of mine did. Be proud to be a part of the Corority!
