Don’t want to Go to the Plex? 4 Other Alternatives To Stay Fit

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BC chapter.

Tired of running on that same treadmill everyday? Are you running out of ideas to stay fit? No need to sweat- there are always new challenges that you can take on to ensure that you are maintaining your health while also having fun. Here are some new ideas to try:

1. SoulCycle- Chestnut Hill

200-230 Boylston St., Chestnut Hill, MA 02467

A 45-minute indoor cycling class featuring high-intensity cardio and muscle-strengthening strength training, SoulCycle is said to be a “powerful mind-body experience.” With booming music playing in the background and instructors ceaselessly yelling at you to keep going, SoulCycle is not just another ordinary spinning class. Rather, you’ll find yourself standing up, bobbing up and down, and even lifting hand weights (ALL while cycling)!

2. PureBarre- Newton

1300 Centre St., Newton, MA 02459

Do you prefer to work out in peace and stay away from loud music? PureBarre may be the answer for you. Here, you will not only be able to participate in a full-body workout, but also leave with a clear head. Unlike any typical workout methods, PureBarre emphasizes the use of a barre and low-impact exercises to target certain body muscles.

3. Barry’s Bootcamp- Chestnut Hill

55 Boylston St. Ste. 5568, Chestnut Hill, MA 02467

With exciting music, signature red lights, and never-dying energy, Barry’s Bootcamp offers balanced workouts consisting of cardio, running, and weight training. With these short bursts of intense anaerobic exercises, you are sure to not only burn up to 1,000 calories but also boost your metabolism. Just 50 minutes here will push you to your limits!

4. Outdoors Club

Don’t want to venture out? No problem. Boston College’s very own Outdoors Club offers regular climbing trips to the Central Rock Gym in Watertown on Thursdays. With climbing, you will not only gain strength in your upper and lower body, but you will also improve your stamina. With only $10, you can obtain a day pass, gear rentals, and transportation. All skills are invited, so no worries if you don’t have any experience!

Enjoy!
