So, we already covered the things girls do that make people not take us seriously enough, but is there anything we can do to show people how confident we are?  You bet! Here are some tips on how to be self-assured and poised without looking stuck-up or snobby.Â
How many times has your mother told you to stand up straight and keep your shoulders back? Turns out, she was right! Standing up straight and keeping your head up makes you appear more confident and approachable.Â
Dress Well
Everyone loves the occasional yoga pants/ baseball hat/ sweatshirt days, but if you want to feel extra confident, putting in the effort can go a long way. I’m not saying you have to wear a power suit every time you’re trying to impress someone (then again, if you want to, go for it!) but throwing on a nice pair of jeans and a sweater will make you seem more put together.
Walk with a Purpose
A leisurely stroll may seem nice, but walking at a slightly faster pace gives off the impression of importance. Showing a little energy in your strut tells people around you that you’re going places!
Compliment Others
It may seems strange to think that complimenting others will help boost your own confidence, but it does! Avoiding trash talking and negativity will help you focus on the positive things, which will in turn reflect in your self-confidence. Making other people feel good about themselves will definitely be rewarding, and as an added bonus, they might just toss a compliment back to you!Â
Eye Contact, Eye Contact, Eye Contact
This is a huge, yet simple, way to make people see you as more confident!  Maintaining eye contact with someone you are speaking with shows that you’re not intimidated by him or her and that you are interested in the conversation. However, if you’re feeling really uncomfortable, there’s nothing wrong with cheating a little! If you focus on the area in between a person’s eyes or the bottom of their forehead, no one will be able to tell the difference!
Give Yourself a Pep Talk
If you’re having a rough day, why not remind yourself of all your great qualities? You’re the only one who knows the true extent of all the awesome things you do, so it’s not conceited to do a little ego building. Take ten minutes to looking in the mirror and remind yourself (out loud!) of all the amazing things you’ve accomplished, and you’ll instantly feel great!
