Instagram Accounts You Should Be Following

Instagram is definitely my favorite social media platform and I have spent more time than I care to admit stalking various accounts in order to procrastinate doing an assignment. Luckily for this piece, stalking Instagram was my research.  It is easy to find yourself lost browsing through a professional’s travel photos or trying to stifle a laugh as you discreetly scroll through a funny account while in Bapst, after all there is nothing worse than being that person in Gargan Hall.  Whether you employ Instagram as a means of procrastination or simply to pass time as you wait for class to start these are the accounts that you should be following. 

Bloggers and Photographers:

Humans of New York  @humansofny

The Humans of New York blog began in the summer of 2010 and soon transformed into an amazing collection of photos and stories showcasing the amazing diversity of the people who live, work and travel to one of the greatest cities in the world.

Bonus: Right now Humans of New York curator Brandon is part of a UN International Tour and his photos on the account are both inspiring and heartbreaking, seriously go take a look you will not regret it.

Casey Coulter @casey_coulter

Casey is an old friend of mine who has an incredible eye for photos and great skill in manipulating them. I have been obsessed with his account since he started but recently he has gained recognition for his photos and now boasts 38k followers.  It is definitely the most visually dynamic and interesting account on this list. 

Mackenzie Horan @mackenziehoran

Mackenzie is a blogger and entrepreneur living and working in NYC.  Her account is full of great photos of cute outfits, NYC scenery and products from her adorable online boutique Design Darling.  If you are a preppy BC girl and you will likely find Mackenzie to be a kindred spirit loving all things navy, pink and monogrammed.

Cooking for Bae  @cookingforbae

Have you ever tried a Pinterest recipe and have it turn out horribly? Are you a junior or senior who now finds yourself with a kitchen and no idea how to cook? Cooking for Bae will definitely make you feel better about your culinary expertise and give you a good laugh in the process.

A Satire of Instagram  @satiregram

If you are in the mood to make fun of all Instagram clichés follow this account. A Satire of Instagram perfectly mocks all the annoying types of photos your friends post. 

You Did Not Eat That  @youdidnoteatthat

This account is hilarious as it says what we are all thinking when you see that Victoria Secret Angel  “eating” a donut. You did not eat that.

Obviously Barney Stinson has an amazing Instagram account. NPH is funny and thoughtful on his account and also shares adorable photos of his toddler twins.  If you weren’t a fan of the actor before, you will be now.

Rachel Zoe  @rachelzoe

She’s Rachel Zoe, need I say more?

Olivia Palermo @therealoliviap

If you were ever a fan of the show Gossip Girl or love fashion Olivia P is the girl to follow. She dresses in runway fashion regularly and travels the globe allowing followers to live vicariously through her beautiful and exciting images.

Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver will have your mouth watering over his photos.  As a bonus his photos look just as beautiful as they do delicious. 

Danielle Walker

If you have ever tried the Paleo diet you may have come across Danielle Walker’s cookbook Against All Grain.  Whether you are a Paleo fanatic or simply looking to try some new recipes follow her account for inspiration. 

BC Related

Mark Herzlich  @markherzlich

Even if you are not a Giants fan, you are a BC fan so you should follow Mark Herzlich. If football isn’t your thing, don’t fret. He also posts cute photos of he and his fiancée. 

Her Campus Boston College  @hercampusbc
