About the Service Trip:
What is the service trip all about? BC Nurses to Haiti is a service trip to Haiti over winter break for a group of nurses. When we are there, we set up local health clinics and focus on helping out as much as we can. We will be providing medications, physical exams, dentistry, and even teaching several classes to Haitian nursing students. We provide medicine that will last about 30-60 days and try to give practical health services. Though we do have a grant, we also do a lot of fundraising including donations from local donors, a 5K race, and gathering donations at tailgates. Just being there for others is a very rewarding experience and we are looking forward to the trip!
What are your organization’s goals for the year? Our big missions of this trip are empowering women and sustainability. The service trip aims to set up a system of heatlh and education that will be sustained even after we have returned to BC. We have been pairing with Strong Women, Strong Girls and are looking forward to continuing our goals before and during our trip!
What are you most looking forward to for this service trip? We are looking forward to working with the kids. We are also looking forward to helping those who need our help, love, and support!
Upcoming fundraising events? We are holding a 5K run on Sunday October 4th at 10 o’clock starting from O’Neill Plaza to raise money for medical supplies to take with us on our trip. Registration is still open and every sign up includes a long sleeve t-shirt!
