This week’s Campus Cutie is Martha Reis! This senior loves watching movies, having a good time, and making people laugh (and she’s good at it). Her smile will brighten your day, so read on to get to know Martha!
Name: Martha Reis
Hometown: St. Louis, MO
School/Year: A&S (now MCAS, but I don’t like that) 2016
Major: Psychology (English minor!)
Activities/Clubs: BC Golden Eagles Dance Team and RHA
Best class: Intro to Law and Law & Econ with Professor Wesner. He is the absolute best professor and will change the way you think about the world and your place in it.
Worst class: Anything in Devlin 008. Class in there is a slow, painful process.
Bapst or O’Neill: Definitely the Bapst cubicles for work. (O’Neill stacks for hide and seek are the best though!)
Favorite place to eat on campus: Upstairs of Lower – to people watch!
Biggest pet peeve: Chewing with your mouth open. Please just don’t.
Favorite thing about senior year: Marathon Monday. That was when it hit me how little time we have left, and how important these 4 years have been. This year has been a year of “yes,” and it has made all the difference.
Most embarrassing moment: As a freshman, I was super excited for the first day that it was warm enough to wear a dress in the spring. I had not yet learned how windy BC was. So, as I passed by Bapst and Gasson, a huge gust of wind blew through, and took my dress with it. I have no idea who saw, but I was completely humiliated. So much for being a cool BC student! To this day, I wear spandex shorts under all my dresses, just in case. Lesson learned!
Fun fact: My whole body is double jointed!
Favorite movie: The Godfather and About Time. The list is way too long, but these are at the top for sure. I am a movie fanatic like you wouldn’t believe.
Favorite TV show: Gossip Girl and Breaking Bad. So many others though (like with movies!)
Celeb crush: Chris Pratt. No question.
Dream job: Hosting The Tonight Show or writing for SNL. I love making people laugh!
Favorite BC sport: I have to say hockey – so much respect for those guys. I can barely skate backward anymore.
Favorite hangout spot on campus: The second floor breezeway between the buildings in Stokes, come snow, rain, or shine.
Relationship status: Single senior!
Ideal guy: Smart, funny, outgoing, honest, and willing to share their wardrobe!
Ideal date: Walking around the city and watching the sunset from over the Charles River.
Deal breakers: If he doesn’t like movies. Or if my family doesn’t like him!
Advice to incoming freshmen: Read This is Water, You are Brilliant and the Earth is Hiring, and Wear Sunscreen. Take risks, follow your passions – you have four years here. Make the most of each and every moment.
If you need more amazing book recommendations or want to take this beautiful girl on a walk along the river, look for Martha in Stokes or Lower (she’ll probably be people watching).
