Meet Writer Rachel Tang!


School/Year:  CSOM’13
Major: Finance, economics
Hometown:  Canton, MA
Favorite Thing to do in Boston:  Celtics and Patriots games
Clubs/Activities:  SAP, 4Boston, Big Sisters of America, Her Campus BC
What You Did This Summer:  I interned at State Street Bank in Boston.
Favorite Book:  Tattoos on the Heart, Freakonomics / SuperFreakonomics, Harry Potter series, and the Girl With the Dragon Tattoo series
Favorite Movie:  (500) Days of Summer
Favorite Magazine (other than Her Campus, obviously):  Rolling Stone
Favorite TV Show:  How I Met Your Mother or Entourage
Biggest Pet Peeve:  People who are fake
Best Class:  Business Law with Professor Tom Wesner
Worst Class:  Statistics
Fun Fact:  I’ve been snowboarding for 12 years.
Embarrassing Fact:  I was once coerced into doing this Her Campus date auction

Meet Writer Kathryn Saphire!

Major:  Communication and English
Hometown:  Wilton, CT
Favorite Thing to do in Boston:  Going to concerts and out to eat
Clubs/Activities:  Real Food, Appalachia, Rusted Revolution x BC, and of course, Her Campus.
What You Did This Summer:  I worked at two boutiques and a restaurant, and I interned at an ad agency. 
Favorite Book:  Wuthering Heights and The Catcher in the Rye
Favorite Movie:  Stand By Me
Favorite Magazine (other than Her Campus, obviously):  The Week
Favorite TV Show:  Weeds, Boy Meets World, and Chopped
Biggest Pet Peeve:  Slow walkers and loud gum chewers

Fun Fact:  I’m not ticklish anymore. Is that fun?
Embarrassing Fact: I am THE worst traveler.  Last year, I tried to go home for Columbus weekend and missed three buses in a row.  I sat at the bus station for over three hours and then came back to campus and took a train the next morning.

Favorite Thing to do in Boston:  Trying new restaurants in different parts of the city (I like food too much).
Clubs/Activities:  Dance Organization of BC and Her Campus!
What You Did This Summer:  Babysitter/camp counselor and ran the Queens half marathon!

Major: Secondary education and math

Favorite Thing to do in Boston:  Shopping!
Clubs/Activities:  Lynch School of Education Honors Program, LSOE research assistant, OCF member, Her Campus writer, BC Splash teacher
What You Did This Summer:  Counselor at sleep-away camp
Favorite Book:  Oh, the Places You’ll Go!

Biggest Pet Peeve:  People cracking their knucles/backs and watching people put in their contacts.

Fun Fact:  My dream job (other than being a middle school math teacher) would be to own a bakery and bake cakes, cookies, and pies all day.
Embarrassing Fact:  I know absolutely nothing about history.  I don’t think I could name the first five presidents of the United States.

Caitlin is currently a student at Boston College studying English and Pre-Law.  At BC, she is a member of the Boston College Irish Dance Club, on the Honors Program Student Executive Board's Community Service Committee, and interns and writes for the fashion and culture blog Rusted Revolution.  She has been wriring for Her Campus BC since Jaunary 2011 and is serving as BC's Campus Correspondent for the 2012-2013 school year.  Outside of school, she is a competitive Irish dancer, and has been dancing for 18 years. During her high school career, she completed an engineering project at Case Western Reserve University that made her one of 40 Intel Science Talent Search Finalists in 2009.   In addition to all of this, Caitlin loves reading, yoga, running, shopping, spending time with friends and family, and traveling.
