My Favorite Thanksgiving Desserts

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BC chapter.

It’s almost time for Thanksgiving, and we all know what that means: Thanksgiving food. I don’t know about y’all, but there’s nothing I love more than turkey, gravy, and mashed potatoes. I’ve always loved baking, so each year I’m in charge of Thanksgiving desserts. Pumpkin, pecan, and apple pies may be some of the classics, but here are three of my favorite desserts to make for Thanksgiving!

Bittersweet Chocolate Pudding Pie with Crème Fraîche Topping

When I was younger, my grandma was always in charge of making the chocolate pudding pie, and most of the time I’d help her. We’d buy the Jello chocolate pudding mix and Oreo piecrusts, and together we’d make our chocolate pudding pies. This recipe, however, is a grown up version of that chocolate pudding pie. Trust me, if you make this delicious dessert, you won’t regret it! Find recipe here on Epicurious!

Cinnamon Crumble Apple Pie

Okay, confession: I haven’t actually made this dessert for Thanksgiving yet. I did, however, make it a few weeks ago after going apple picking with my roommates. Instead of the traditional lattice crust on top, this apple pie has a delicious cinnamon crumble, making it almost a cross between an apple pie and an apple crisp. From someone who doesn’t actually like apple desserts, I was definitely a fan of this, and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a new apple pie recipe (which you can find here)!

Honey-Cinnamon Ice Cream

Just because it’s fall doesn’t mean you can’t have ice cream! Personally, I think that cinnamon ice cream is an excellent addition to a slice of warm apple pie or pecan pie. This recipe, however, requires you to have an ice cream maker, but honestly, it’s such a good investment and I highly recommend getting one! There’s nothing better than homemade ice cream, and you can make any flavor you could ever imagine. For the honey-cinnamon recipe, however, check here

So if you’re looking for a new recipe to try for a Thanksgiving dessert, try one of these! I promise, they’re totally worth the effort (and they don’t really take too long). And have a happy Thanksgiving!
