One of my favorite things about the summer is being able to drive around with the windows down and music blasting. There’s nothing like getting in the car on a hot summer day, putting your sunglasses on, rolling down the windows and just singing along at the top of your lungs. So collegiettes, as you start packing up all of your things (did this all really fit in one tiny room?!) and get ready to head home, here are some of my favorite songs that are perfect to listen to during the summer! I promise I’ll try to be reasonable with the number of Maroon 5 songs* on here, but I can’t promise that there will be any logic to the songs on this list (other than the fact that these songs are awesome to sing along to while driving… don’t worry, it’s been tested)!
Five Years Time- Noah and the Whale
Payphone- Maroon 5 ft. Wiz Khalifa
We are Young- Fun
Laid- Matt Nathanson
When Love Takes Over- David Guetta and Kelly Rowland
Ships in the Night- Mat Kearney

Take My Heart- Chris Isaak (my one really random song for the playlist?)
Never Gonna Leave This Bed- Maroon 5
In the Sun- She and Him
You Make My Dreams- Hall and Oates
My Body- Young the Giant
L.I.F.E.G.O.E.S.O.N.- Noah and the Whale

Last Chance- Maroon 5
Stand- Rascal Flatts (obligation to my southern roots)
Enjoy those moments this summer when you’re driving around blasting the music, singing along with your best friends, and not caring that everyone around you can hear. Or if you just want to relax by the pool, listening to music and reading a magazine, which is always a welcome change from frantically reading an entire semester’s worth of notes and hoping that your professor won’t ask you about that one thing that you missed in lecture and never quite figured out. Finding the perfect summertime playlist is a difficult task, but I hope y’all enjoy some of my favorites!
*But really, just go ahead and buy all of Maroon 5’s albums. You won’t regret it.
