Pinterest Cocktails on Foster: Halloween Edition

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BC chapter.

As a fellow HC BC girl and roommate to the Katherine (the girl behind Pinterest Fridays at Foster), I’ve seen and tasted all the delicious Fun Fridays at Foster snacks she’s whipped up in our kitchen. I wanted to join in on the fun, and since I’m 21, I thought the perfect complement to her treats would be cocktails! This week, in light of the fact that Katherine’s made ghoulish cake pops, I thought I’d make a Halloween-themed drink. For my first Pinterest Fun Foster Drink, I tested the Candy Corn Cocktail!

This Week: Candy Corn Cocktail (courtesy of Betty Crocker)

The Ingredients:

Makes 3 Strong Servings:

  • 1 ½ cups plain vodka
  • 1 cup candy corn
  • ¾ cup pineapple juice
  • Ice
  • Mason Jar or any sealable container

Infusing the vodka:

To make the flavored vodka, put the 1 ½ cups vodka and 1 cup candy corn into a jar. Seal it and put it in the fridge overnight (or at least for a few hours). The longer you leave the candy in there, the sweeter the vodka will be. You can also adjust the ratio of candy corn to vodka to increase the sweetness factor if you’re short on time (I only used about a half cup of vodka and let it soak for 3 hours with about a cup of candy corn).

Pre-Infusion:

Post-Infusion:

Strain the vodka (if you have a strainer), or else just carefully pour out a shot (or two), making sure to avoid any leftover chunks of candy corn. Pour the shot into a glass and top it off with pineapple juice. I used the ratio of 3 oz. pineapple juice to 1 oz. candy corn vodka, but to each his or her own. Add ice if you want or drop a few leftover non-vodka-soaked candy corns into the drink as a garnish. The combination of flavors was interesting (as you would expect with mixing pineapple and candy corn), but over all pretty good. The color was also so vibrant and festive, perfect for Halloween!

Time Spent in Kitchen: 5 minutes plus 3+ hours downtime during infusion

Overall Rating: 7
