Plans You Can Still Make For Spring Break

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BC chapter.

With Spring Break just over a week away, all we seem to be hearing about are everyone’s elaborate travel plans– the seniors partying in the DR, juniors visiting friends abroad, or our friends going to Miami (shout out to my roommates. Have fun girls!).  If you still haven’t solidified anything yet, no fear, here are a bunch of great ideas for plans you can still make.

Getaways

Last minute deal websites

Sites like Expedia, Priceline, and Hotwire have collections of unbooked flights, hotels, cruises, and vacation packages that they aim to fill at low prices and in less than seven days of departure. Looking on Expedia, I found an 8-night Carnival cruise to the Bahamas out of New York starting at $429, seriously a great deal and an amazing trip. Additionally, Priceline’s tagline is, “You Snooze, You Win.” Sounds good to me!

Groupon Getaways

I scroll through these longingly every few months and an empty spring break seems like the perfect time to take up an offer! These deals are also short-booked and vary from European cruises (okay maybe not for this break) to more local fun. They have some great destinations for spring break, like packages to Puerto Vallarta, New Orleans, and Park City, but also some really cool, more local ones, like New York City and Niagara Falls.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

Visit friends

This break, I will finally be visiting my friends from high school at their colleges. I know I’ve had three and a half years to visit, but their schools are the direct opposite way from my home of BC, so it was always too hard to get there. This time I will definitely be making it to Colgate and University of Rochester. Unluckily, my friends go to school in places colder than BC (thanks guys), but if you have a friend that goes to school in the South, give them a call.

Staycations

Be a tourist in your own city

Check out some of the attractions that visitors to your city would. Some of these will be places you went to on field trips in elementary and middle school but others could be activities you never knew were there. Do some tourist research and go exploring in your hometown.

New York State Museum in Albany, New York

Visit your favorite summer spots

Although they may be covered in snow, take a ride out to your favorite place to visit in the summer. Whether it be a beach, lake, or park, visit for a different experience during this time of year.

Lake George, New York

Take a mini-vacay

Take a midweek overnight to a place not too far from home. See a Broadway show in New York or hit up a spa for total relaxation. Check Groupon for deals!

Whether you decide on a getaway or a staycation, there is still time to make arrangements. Some of the best made plans are those made last minute. Either way, enjoy your break, you’ve earned it!
