Almost every single kind of crowd or vehicle movement in the United States involves staying on the right side. Roads, moving walkways at the airport, the T, and most importantly, going through doors. You have never functioned on the left side of anything. It is always the right. Always.
I understand that when the left door is open as someone walks out, it’s tempting to slip in and break the “right-side” rule.
Don’t do it. It messes up the flow of traffic and you’re not taking advantage of a perfectly good door on the RIGHT.
Don’t be THAT guy (or girl)
I know I’m coming off as extremely sour, but I can’t help but get frustrated when people walk through the left doors and make the people on the other side wait for them to get out of the way. There are two doors for a reason. The worst places: Lower, Stokes, and 4th floor Maloney stair/elevator area.
For those Catholics out there, Lent just started. It’s not too late to make the Lenten promise of “giving up” going through the left door. Just an idea…
This system also goes for sidewalks; dear God, please just stay on the right side. It really shouldn’t be that hard. We’re all smart kids at BC, so let’s start acting like it and use the right side. Get in touch with those American roots.
