If you’re like me, you’re not really looking forward to spring break in a few weeks. While all my friends will be jetting to sunny destinations like Florida and DC, I’ll be stuck in my dorm room (#fullpraclife). Thankfully, there are a few things you can do that’ll help make the week fly until your roomies are finally back.

1. Hit Up the MFA

The Museum of Fine Arts is a super underrated Boston gem. Admission is free with your BC ID and going to museums alone can be really relaxing. Spend a day wandering through the art, both ancient and modern, and just think about what you’re looking at. It’s a great way to take your mind off of all the craziness of the semester while fully taking advantage of your time in the city.

2. Spa Day

Treat yo’self! You’ve most likely got the room to yourself, and if you don’t this is a great roomie bonding activity. There are tons of salons that are just a short Uber ride away, so put on your comfiest sweats, throw your hair in a messy bun, and prepare to be pampered: mani/pedi, massage, new hairdo…get whatever treatment you feel would best help you to relax.

3. Take a Sam Adams Brewery Tour

If you’re of legal age, this is slightly touristy but definitely fun and worth it. The suggested donation is $2, but they encourage you to give what you can, as the money goes to local charities. Tours go out almost all day, and you get beer! What more could you ask for from a day off?

4. See a Movie

In particular, a movie at the Coolidge Corner Theater. This old-style theater is smaller than most modern venues, but it’s super cute, not too far away, fairly cheap, and they serve alcohol. Plus, seeing a movie by yourself is the bomb.com and everyone should be comfortable doing it by the time they graduate.

5. Listen to Some Jazz

Beehive, a restaurant on Tremont Street, features up and coming musicians every night. While they are primarily a jazz club, their lineup spans genres, so check their website before you go to make sure you like the music. The food is spectacular and the atmosphere is fun, making for a great night off campus.

Spend your spring break breaking out of the BC Bubble and you’ll have some stories to rival your friends’.
