Summer: Finally Take Advantage of Boston

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BC chapter.

During the school year with weekend outings, my friends and I always land on this simple excuse: “I don’t have time.” So, instead of exploring the North End, or making a trip over to Harvard, we usually settle on our usual weekend spot of Newbury Street. Particularly, Joe’s Bar and Grill…(great bread.) Although we love our “usual” and its convenience, most of us are excited to have this summer in Boston to do those things we “don’t have time” for. Here are just a few things you might not know about that you can do during the summer in Boston.

Blame it on the Alcohol

We’re college kids, of course alcohol will be incorporated. For those of us looking to consumer our two favorite things, beer and soft pretzels, the Harpoon Brewery is the perfect destination. $5 tours with a beer tasting, and soft pretzels with any pint of Harpoon Beer. Probably the best pregame you’ll have all summer.

If you’re looking to unleash your classy side, and maybe your bank account, try a wine tour instead. City Wine Tours offer three different wine tour locations, the South End, North End, and the Back Bay.  Literally drink your way around Boston with a wine connoisseur while also munching on a few appetizers here and there.

Not Your Typical Late-Night Pizza

Following the theme of tours, Boston Pizza Tour offers their own tour of pizzerias around the Boston area. You get three slices of pizza, one from each of the three pizzerias on the tour. You basically get to eat a pizza made up of critically acclaimed slices. You also get a little tour of Boston’s history with visits to sights like the famous Paul Revere statue and Boston’s oldest standing church. Although I love Dominos, this tour gives it a run for its money.

Whale Watching

Finally, you have an appropriate reason to use your “whale” emoji on Instagram. Whale sighting is guaranteed with Boston Harbor Cruises . If you don’t see a whale, you get a free ticket for your next whale watching. Pretty good deal for $49 for a three-hour tour if you ask me. Also, you get to see a whale. Talk about a story to write home about.

Fenway: Can You Get More Bostonian?

Fenway doesn’t even need to be mentioned as an “idea,” but it’s still fun. There are home games all throughout the summer along with public tours everyday of the stadium. There are even tours on game days. Just in case you hadn’t gotten enough information on tours already.

If this article doesn’t get you excited for summer, then I don’t know what will. Boston summertime is about to be the best time.
