Although many Boston College students have experienced fall and cold weather before, some (I’m looking at you, Californians, Texans, and Floridians) have been lucky enough to live in warm weather for their entire lives and have not experienced the New England temperatures before. Here are three easy ways to stay warm during the brisk weather of fall:
1. Layered tops
Pair a long sleeved top like a printed tee or a button down with a cardigan, pullover sweater, or vest. When the sun is out, you may not need the extra layer, but in the shade, or after sunset, you will be happy you have something to bundle up with. You’ll want a coat as the season progresses, so keep an eye out for sales. Additionally, scarves are a great way to spice up an outfit, while adding an extra layer of warmth.
2. Pants
In September and October, jeans or a cute pair of pants will keep you perfectly warm. But once November hits and the weather gets a bit chillier, you might want to invest in some fleece-lined leggings to keep your legs warm.
3. Shoes
It’s time to say goodbye to sandals and slip into some closed-toe shoes. Flats or boat shoes are a great option, but boots (either ankle or knee high) will keep your feet warm and free from leaves once they start falling.
