It’s just about that time when the temperature starts to slowly drop, the wind starts to pick up, and the girls begin to talk about their favorite pumpkin spice lattes. More importantly though, it’s Ugg season! That’s right, ladies—pull them out and wear them proudly. Let’s be honest here, every girl has a pair of Uggs (or “knockoff” ones!). And I don’t know about you, but I am getting really exciting about wearing mine!!
Yet every, and let me emphasize every, fall we hear the obnoxious comments from the boys, “Uggs are ugly. Why do you wear those?!” Well, gentlemen, it’s time we set you straight. Girls wear Uggs for two primary reasons: comfort and style. Uggs are exceedingly comfortable; not only are they coated on the inside with fur that will keep our feet warm, but they also have plenty of room for those bulky socks and toe warmers. Such room leads to the stylish benefit of tucking our jeans and leggings into them. We never have to worry if our jeans or leggings will be too snug with our boots or if we will feel that uncomfortable bulging at our ankles. Abnormally bumpy calves? You know what I’m talking about.
The majority of boys are obviously not educated on fall fashion, so what do they know anyway? They look down at our feet and think, “What are those bulky things around your ankles?” Personally, I think they are just envious that we get to wear boots that come in a variety of colors, sparkles, shapes, and sizes. I mean come on now, what do they have? Gray knit Uggs with a sparkle stitching that can be worn either half-calf or mid-leg? I think not.
Maybe Tom Brady had a thing or two to do with encouraging the boys who I see walking in the Ugg slippers. Yet, those same boys will argue that the boots are a whole different scenario. The “ugly Uggs” comment is only attached to the boots that the girls wear. What?! Y’all are wearing the same brand! Maybe the fluffy boots are just a bulky distraction to when they’re giving us the look down. Little side note here ladies: if you’re trying to lose a guy, don’t fear the Uggs.
So gentlemen, before you criticize another girl for her “ugly Uggs”, put your jealousy aside and acknowledge the benefits we lucky ladies are able to reap. Because, let’s be real here: our Uggs aren’t going anywhere! So the comments can keep rolling and the girls will keep strolling in their brown, black, blue, purple, sparkly, half-calf, mid-leg, leather, knit Uggs.
