Why Being Away from Your Dog is So Difficult

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BC chapter.

Anyone who has a dog can agree that a dog is a man’s (or girl’s) best friend. I didn’t realize how much I loved my dog and would miss his presence until I left for my freshman year of college in August. I have been a part of multiple conversations where people simply show off their dogs and talk about how much they long to see them. Honestly, some days I miss my yellow lab, Toby, more than my friends or family. Anyone who loves and misses their dog can agree:

1. Your dog is happier to see you than any human ever will be.

Even if you are coming right back into a room you just left, your dog will be there waiting for you can couldn’t be happier to see you. What kind of human would do that?! 2. Your dog is the best cuddle buddy.

Who other than your dog would you want to cuddle up next to after a long day? Big or small, there is no better feeling than when they curl up right next to you.3. Playing with your dog is the best pastime.

Watching your dog run and play doesn’t only bring smiles, but it also brings laughs to see them fail once in awhile. This would brighten anyone’s day.4. Seeing your dog happy makes you happy.

It’s so hard to resist giving them treats or toys, because when they are happy, you are happy. 5. Knowing love you unconditionally is the best feeling in the world.

There is no love like how a dog loves his or her owner (or his owner’s college!).

We all miss our dogs, but before we know it, we will be back home with them once again!
