I know, I know. Everyone wants to go home for Thanksgiving. And I’m not saying you shouldn’t! Please, go home and be with your families and friends on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday! And then come back for the football game on Saturday. Why? I’ll tell you.
Reason #1: Our football team is bowl eligible. For those of you who aren’t football fans, basically, this means our record is over .500, and we get to be invited to a special, end of the season game. For those of you who are football fans, you know what this means. To already be bowl eligible with 3 games left is something BC fans could never dream of during the Spaz era. Every game is so much more important now. A better record means a better bowl. The team is more driven than ever to keep up their stellar performance this season.
Reason #2: School pride. I wrote an article a few weeks back about the Superfans. Prove me wrong. I personally would love to see a mob of gold at this game. Our team has a pretty good chance to beat Syracuse, and the team thrives on the energy of the Superfans. If our student body doesn’t show up, how can we expect the team to?
Reason #3: It’s the senior game. All of the seniors on the football team, the cheerleading team, and the pom squad, and in the Band are going to be emotional, I’m sure. Having the strength of the school behind them would mean the world. It’ll be their last time ever playing and performing in Alumni Stadium, and they’ll need the support of the student body and the Superfans to push them through the game. Plus, for all you senior Superfans out there, it’ll be your last time at a game as an undergrad. You really don’t want to miss that. For the rest of you Superfans, this’ll be the last game you’ll get with your senior friends before they graduate.
If you’re a football fan like I am, or even if you’re not, the final football game of the season against Syracuse is somethng you don’t want to miss. Bonus: the cheering will be a great way to burn off the calories from all the turkey you ate!
