This week, I thought I’d switch things up and show off the playlist creating talents of ten of my closest friends (six of which live with me on Foster, and four of which also write for HC BC, so some names might look familiar!). The task was simple: I asked them to pick a song, any song, that they wanted to share as their song choice for this week. Then, I asked them to give a brief explanation why. I must say, I am very pleased with what they came up with, and they should be too! So, here is the “Foster & Friends Song Faves” Playlist!
Liz: “If I Can’t” by 50 Cent
Honestly, this song came on my Spotify the other day and I didn’t even attempt to fight the feeling. The idea of letting champagne bottles pop and taking it to the top are two things that just will never get old for me – I don’t know about you. You can always rely on me to appreciate a feel-good throwback.
Christina: “My Girl” by The Temptations
Is this too cliché? Oh well. Simple, romantic, and it just never fails to make me happy. Seriously, is it possible to not feel all the warm fuzzies on the inside after listening to this?
Jenna: “I Want It That Way” by The Backstreet Boys
The Backstreet Boys Greatest Hits album was my first CD ever and I still play it in my car. I can never NOT jam to the Backstreet Boys.
Nina: “Happily” by One Direction
Okay, so this is just the kind of song you need to hear to remind you love is still out there! Plus, I have a weird love for those boys!
ML: “Send Me On My Way” by Rusted Root
This has been my favorite song since I can remember. Why? Mumbiasay mumbiaum. The lyrics are just so deep! Just kidding, I love it because it’s impossible to feel bad while listening to this song. The upbeat melody brightens any day and brings back childhood memories of watching Matilda and Ice Age.
Amelia: “Back To Black” by Amy Winehouse
I have to go with “Back to Black” by Amy Winehouse. Her voice is insane and the music itself is totally up my alley. It’s not typical pop music by today’s standards, but it’s really catchy and the lyrics actually have meaning. Plus, she’s just awesome in general.
Alyssa: “Lovelovelove” by Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers
It’s a bittersweet song about fitting as much love as you can in a lifetime. There’s something so mesmerizing about it that I always end up putting it on repeat, and the intro solo is awesome.
Jacqueline: “Halo” by Beyoncé
It’s my go to song when I’m trying to belt it!
Katherine: “Brave” by Sara Bareilles
While I’m listening to this song, I feel like I can literally take on the world. I’m sure that was her intention when she wrote it, so she succeeded! It’s also really catchy and fun to sing along to.
Kayla: “22” by Taylor Swift
It’s just a feel good song, you know? Doesn’t matter if you’re 22 or not, you can’t not sing along.
I hope you guys liked what my friends came up with! If you guys need me, I’ll be busting out every lyric to ‘If I Can’t” with Liz. 50 Cent really never gets old.
